WPW shows promise and yet still manages to be a joke

Let me start first off, by saying that there were some pretty solid matches in WPW's PPV, "Rebirth". I liked the Rich Wright vs. Will Sachs and Tom Lyte vs. Bill Myer's matches especially. Out of the 4 in the match, I'd put my money on Tom Lyte and Rich Wright. Watch those guys, because I guarantee you that you're gonna see good matches out of them for years to come. Not to take anything away from Sach's or Myer's, they were both very good too.

Lucifer deserved better in an opening match on an opening PPV than a 3 minute squash match, even if he was delivering the squash. I've seen Lucifer work and I think most of the FWC would agree that he was one of the hottest possible free agents out there. You don't throw him in a three minute match in the opening pay per view. You lock him up with a Tom Lyte or a Matt Mercury and have them go 45 minutes. You show the crowd who Lucifer is. What did Lucifer gain from a 3 minute match? Next to nothing. No mic time. No anything. So right now we don't see any personality or any of his vast wrestling ability. I think this was a VERY poor start to the show.

I'm still trying to find out what the hell happened with Prisoner. I've met him a few times in the past and he's an okay guy. It seemed like it had to be a work, but was I the only one who noticed the X thrown up by the ref at the very end of the night? I think Prisoner may have been legitimately hurt. Not to mention, why did he stop contract negotiations with XWA? Doesn't make sense to me.

Vertigo's solid, but a little bit too much flash for me. Demin was solid too. I'd rank this the 3rd best match of the night though. Solid back and forth action and some generall stiff moves. Demin was real stiff. Looked pretty realistic for the most part.

I gotta admit I kinda liked the whole Dan Jekyl and Peter Hyde bit. I'm wondering if they're gonna just start calling Dan Jekyl, Jekyl a la Dave Batista. Mercury should have gotten a better match then this too. They wanted to show off a brute though. At least he got some time to show off his speed. I'll be watching Jekyl to see what goes on with him.

If I had to rank, the Rich Wright and Will Sachs match was 2nd best of the night. It's just personal preference. I preferred the technical aspect of the Tom Lyte vs. Bill Myer's matches just slightly more than the occasional kick boxing technique used by Sachs. Both were great matches though.

So we get to see another squash when Bane destroys Sonio. Bad booking. Cancer vs. Bane was solid but should have been longer and Bane should have been knocked down a bit more. See, you have Bane be tested solidly in the first 2 matches so when he gets to the third match he's tired and hurting. Then you see how much of a monster he is when he still manages to take out the third competitor. All I saw was 2 wrestler's not fit to carry Bane's jock-strap.

I was kinda surprised to see Two Tyme be the main wrestler Bane took on. It was solid, but nothing jumped out at me. Not the best way to end the PPV honestly. So those are my opinions of the matches. Now to talk about what I thought was just laughable.

I'm as much a advocate of more wrestling then promo's than anyone, but you gotta be kidding me on the complete and utter lack of development of ANYONE. First of all, we weren't introduced to ANY other wrestler's in WPW to look forward to. All we know are the wrestler's we saw and the promise that there are more to follow.

There's gotta be some happy medium between wrestling and character development. The reason I've managed to succeed so well is because I'm well known. I developed who I was in XCW as I showed off my talent. Not one wrestler has differentiated themselves as a character, with the exception of maybe Bane, Tom Lyte (and by circumstance, Jekyl), in the entire league. You have to give me more then that. You have to give me something to look forward to.

So when's the next PPV? What's the next event period? Who can I expect to see?

There's no build-up for any of this, so why should any of us even look into buying whatever comes around next?

The bottom-line is, WPW had a solid PPV which could have been infinitely better. Better booking WPW. You gotta get better booking or you're always gonna be in the Xtreme's shadows, no matter how hard you try and distance yourself from them.

So many unanswered questions..

I'm back. I apologize for my extended absence, but it couldn't really be helped. Well it could I suppose, but I was grieving. James funeral was as nice as a funeral could be. What was even nicer is the turnout. There was over 100 wrestling personalities (including wrestlers from XWW, XCW and XWA as well as announcers, scouts, etc) as well as fans who turned out to offer their last respects. It seems like I miss James more and more each day.

Kip and Bret had a match over the weekend for James. Kip's not supposed to wrestle because of his back. He did, for James. Kip won, but lost his career. After the match, through tears, my good friend Kip "the Machine" retired from wrestling due to lower back problems. It was a hell of a match that I wish I could have been involved in. It went 47 minutes and both Bret and Kip showed the absolute best of themselves. Honestly, it was the best match I've seen so far this year. It was so phenomenal to see the emotion and chemistry those two displayed. A shame Kip's now done with wrestling forever. He gave his heart and his back up the other night. But I guarantee you he walked out with his head held high, albeit his heart heavy.

For the first time since the announcement was made, I'm going to address this "WPW" issue. I'm gonna start with the most obvious statement possible: The former owner of XCW and current owner of WPW is the biggest pile of shit I've ever known in my life. The funny this is, though, I didn't really know him. This guy is one of those pricks who thinks he's too good for anyone to ever meet him. He never once met with me. Any talks that went to me came through scouts and talent agents. As far as I know, he never has shown his face to anyone. Honestly, I'd rather he never showed his face again. Or better yet, I wish he'd show his face to me so that I could bloody it up a bit. This guys is one of the slimiest, underhanded, low-life scumbags I've ever been associated with.

Let me be the first to tell you that I'm actually one of the XCW wrestler's who does NOT have a limited compete clause. I managed to work that out after I had been signed on a year. My extension came with a clause of it's own in which case if I was ever left out of work for any reason then I could sign on with another company. So, WWE trying to sign me was completely legit and I could have if I wanted to. However, the majority of XCW wrestler's, and quite a few of them are my friends, are not in that boat. As much as I hate the idea of a bunch of good solid wrestler's not being able to practice their trade to the utmost degree, there's a bigger issue here.

That issue is the apparent collapse of XCW. So you mean to tell me that XCW is simply gone because this ass wants it to be? All the fans, all the wrestler's, all the insiders... everyone who was waiting and hoping for the ultimate return, are instead going to be introduced to some unsung league while XCW lays by the wayside so that the money hungry owner can continue to increase his wealth from merchandise sales? This makes me absolutely sick.

Don't get me wrong... I love to see new companies come up with the ability to push good talent to the moon which there's never a lack of. But the blatant disrespect is too much to handle. You're only taking one XCW wrestler? Bane? You're taking Bane? This guy spent 3 months in XCW, and while he was dominant and a force... how is he even worth consideration for this? This is a joke. So is WPW.

Plenty of people are actually planning on striking this. I've heard XCW former wrestler's and fans. The ppv is tomorrow, but I won't be making the trip. I'll see what it has to offer, mainly because I'm a fan of wrestling. But no matter what happens, WPW will never ever be a good substitute for XCW.

My next wrestling match is Monday against Mr. H.M. Chan.

I'm gonna pretend he's the XCW former owner. And I might just really hurt him.
